What better way to honor Women’s History Month than by creating a space where Black women, and those who truly support us, feel empowered, encouraged, and psychologically safe? The IMPACT Black Women Experience was built for this very purpose: a space where women can ask questions, be vulnerable, and show up as their most authentic selves.

From the very beginning, the energy in the room was powerful. Morgan Williams, Founder of Blendyd Studios, welcomed the women with a breathing exercise, reminding them that they are enough just as they are. Victoria Bacon led a Mindful Yoga session, showing the ladies how to quiet the mind and embrace stillness. Then, Tunisha Brown, the Founder/Editor-In-Chief of IMPACT Magazine, took them on a journey through the seven stages of emotional healing: awareness, acceptance, processing, release, growth, integration, and transformation. Coach Latonya Howell shared her personal story of trauma to healing, a testimony that deeply resonated.

Shawnda Brooks, Spa Director at the St. Regis Deer Valley, guided us through the practice of self-care with sound baths, and host Morgan Williams experienced an upper body massage so relaxing, she was left floating.

The discussion on menopause was raw and necessary. Dr. Erica Baiden highlighted a truth many had never considered: “Majority of the studies out there didn’t have Black women in mind.” Dr. Irma Fleming spoke on how menopause affects skin, weight, and overall health, while Dr. Findlay broke down the connection between hormones and thyroid health.

Jasmine Nelson, Founder of Umber by J. Lenay, shared her journey with Hirsutism—a condition that causes excessive hair growth due to hormonal imbalances—and how she created a formula that not only reduces unwanted hair but heals and restores the skin.

Then came Vanessa Simmons, who delivered a message that left the room in deep reflection: “The scripture, ‘As a man thinks in his heart, so is he,’ was revealed to me, and a light bulb went off. I realized I couldn’t continue to profess social anxiety over my life.”

Tears flowed. Questions were asked. Truths were spoken. Sisterhood was strengthened.

The day ended with beautiful acts of generosity: Shawnda Brooks gifted a 60-minute massage to guest Shalesa and a 90-minute massage to Connie Washington. In turn, Connie, moved by Latonya’s words about needing to relax, gifted her the 90-minute massage.
This is what IMPACT Black Women Experience is about. Sister to sister. Healing together. Elevating each other.
