Counselor Develops Publishing Company To Enhance Confidence With Self-Affirmations To Help Boost Confidence And Self-Esteem In Black Children

Portia Smith is a Licensed Certified Professional Counselor and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. She has over ten years of both clinical and professional experience in the mental health field. Smith specializes in suicide and crisis intervention, and prevention services. She is a huge advocate for self-care and mental health wellness. She strives to enhance confidence and positive self-esteem in others. 

Smith is a loving, devoted mother of two, who loves working within her community; who is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. 

Smith always had a passion for creating stories and reading books.  She took her passion and desire to see African American children as the main characters in picture books and created Imagine Me Creative Book Publishing. 

In her latest book, “I Know Who I Am”, she lays out in alphabetical order, positive self-affirmations to help boost confidence and self-esteem in children.

Smith launched PSMJ Books in 2020 with cofounder, Michael Johnson, as a way to give a voice to the underrepresented heroic characters in kids literature. 

In their book, “The Adventures of Max and Levi”, Max learns a new way to handle bullying situations at school. This book will help children build the confidence they need to deal with bullies and encourages them to stand up for what’s right. “The Adventures of Max and Levi”, will be available for purchase on Amazon by the beginning of Spring 2021.
