Over the past few years, I’ve noticed a growing trend: networks are finally paying attention to Black Christmas movies. And why not? We celebrate the holidays with rich traditions, family gatherings, and yes, a little drama too! These movies showcase our stories in all their joy and complexity, and I’m here for it.
When I received an invite to screen BET+’s holiday comedy, Queens of Christmas, I couldn’t wait to see some of my favorite stars—Terri J. Vaughan, Vanessa Bell Calloway, and Essence Atkins—bring this festive story to life. Written by Chad Quinn (Christmas Party Crashers) and Kenny Young (Never Alone For Christmas), this film truly delivers the holiday spirit.
Set in a charming suburban neighborhood, the movie follows life-long friends and rival neighbors Doris and Julia as they compete for the annual “Queen of Christmas” title, a crown that has annoyingly gone to their neighbor Nancy every single year. But this year, Doris and Julia are determined to win—no matter what. Along the way, they discover the true meaning of the holiday season and the strength of their sisterly bond.
Producer Pierre Romain shared, “Queens of Christmas will make you laugh and want to hug your best friend while showing the true meaning of sisterhood.”
With a stellar cast that includes Aasha Davis, Russell G. Jones, Carl Gilliard, Marjorie Johnson, Curtis Wiley, Isaiah Romain, Danielle Baez, Jada Elena Wooten, Bear Jackson, and Gary Budoff, this film is a holiday treat you don’t want to miss.
Produced by Worldwide Entertainment and Media and Choice Films, Queens of Christmas is now streaming exclusively on BET+. Gather your friends, cozy up, and prepare to laugh, cry, and celebrate the season!
