Every woman has a moment where she’s invited into her own story; an awakening where the pen is no longer in someone else’s hand. For Tommi Vincent, that moment didn’t arrive with fanfare, but with quiet resolve. It was born out of pain, the kind of pain that leaves fingerprints on your soul. A survivor of domestic violence, Tommi found herself face-to-face with darkness; and instead of shrinking back, she lit a flame.
That flame began in the kitchen.
With her Nana Edie’s recipes in hand and a heart longing for healing, Tommi stirred her way back to herself. Each ingredient became a metaphor. Each meal, a testimony. There is a science to cooking, a rhythm. Like healing, it requires patience, attention, and most of all, love.
That same love became the cornerstone of everything Tommi touched. From hosting the “Stay A While Podcast” and her beloved “Stay A While Cooking Show,” to serving as a wellness chef for Morgan Stanley, iHeart Radio, and the NFL, Tommi’s kitchen became a sanctuary. Her voice became a balm. And her heart? A safe harbor for women seeking freedom.
As the immediate past Chair of the National Domestic Violence Hotline Board of Directors, Tommi transformed personal survival into national advocacy. She now helps shape legislation, secure shelter funding, and guide public discourse on domestic violence and sexual assault. Her voice, once silenced by abuse, now echoes through halls of power, shifting policies and saving lives.
But hers is not a story told alone.

Standing beside her is a man equally committed to the work of restoration and justice-her husband, Troy Vincent, Sr.
A titan in the world of football, Troy currently serves as the Executive Vice President of Football Operations for the NFL, drawing upon a legendary 15-year career on the field and 15 years off it. But what makes Troy truly exceptional isn’t just what he’s done with the ball in hand, it’s what he’s done with the platform it gave him.
Throughout his career, Troy has been honored with nearly every accolade for character and community service one can imagine: the NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year, the Byron Whizzer White Award, and the Bart Starr Award, to name a few. He is the only person in NFL history to receive all of them.
His mission? To protect. To advocate. To lead.
Troy’s responsibilities span game operations, officiating, and the business strategy of football’s future; including the global expansion of NFL Flag. But his influence reaches far beyond the field. As a fierce advocate against domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse, Troy works tirelessly to ensure that players, families, and communities are educated, protected, and empowered.
Together, Tommi and Troy founded The Vincent Commission, in partnership with Niagara University, to craft best practices and policies for preventing domestic and gender-based violence. Their work is deeply personal, and it’s deeply impactful.
Their story is one of alignment: of faith, family, and an unshakable commitment to justice. It’s a story of two people who chose each other, and then chose to serve the world.
On Friday, June 13th, IMPACT Magazine will honor Troy Vincent, Sr. at the Men of IMPACT Honorary Black-Tie Gala in Salt Lake City, Utah. And together, Tommi and Troy will grace the cover of our June issue; a reflection of their unity, their purpose, and the legacy they continue to build.
This is not just a story of healing.
It’s a story of impact.
Of light reclaimed.
Of love redefined.
Of purpose pursued.
And the world is better because they chose to write their own story, together.
