She has been featured on CBS Evening News with Norah O’Donnell as the modern day mother. Dr. Tragil Wade-Johnson(h.c) is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, inspirational speaker, life coach, and author with a passion to improve the quality of life through Educating, Empowering, Encouraging, and Enlightening as many people as possible.
Dr. Tragil is known for being a caregiver and big sister to her famous brother Dwyane Wade (retired NBA player). Their family story from tragedy to triumph sparked her desire to provoke change.
From 2006-2017, she was the Executive Director for Wade’s World Foundation. Wade’s World Foundation stands on the shoulders of its central purpose of promoting the education of children/ youth and its three focus initiatives of literacy, health and fatherhood. By primarily servicing the at-risk communities of Chicago, Milwaukee, and the South Florida region, Wade’s World Foundation and partnering sponsors are dedicated to providing opportunities that enable children to overcome challenges, excel academically, and reach their maximum potential.

In her words, “I am very humbled and honored to receive this award. From 2006- 2019 I wore many hats as a “sistager,” from Client Management, where I dealt with major companies, to Executive Director of my brother’s nonprofit, Wade’s World Foundation, where he was able to impact millions of lives.
It was a heart-centered dedication of helping him reach his highest potential, both personally and professionally. It was my honor to protect and serve him.
As kids, our mother was incarcerated and dealt with drug abuse. Due to her decisions, I had to grow up fast. Dwyane became my focus, and I thank God for giving me the strength and grace a big sister needs to help him become the man he is. Today, God continues to use me in the space of rearing motherless youth with my own foundation, America’s Big Sisters. Therefore, I look at our past as testimony, not turmoil.

This award means a lot to me because women in sports are often overlooked and usually never receive their flowers. But I say the ball will forever be in our court.
I accept this award on behalf of all the women that have worked alongside me through my career in sports management.”
