Considering we are celebrating love today, it is only right for me to announce the Guest of Honor for the Women of IMPACT Honorary Brunch on May 19, 2019 at the Venue by P being the 11x GRAMMY NOMINATED R&B Queen of soul music… singer/songwriter, Kelly Price!
Kelly Price appeared on a number of hit singles such as Mariah Carey’s “Fantasy”, The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Mo Money Mo Problems”, Mase’s Feel So Good, and Whitney Houston’s “Heartbreak Hotel”. She has sung background vocals for Faith Evans, Aretha Franklin, Brian McKnight, and SWV. Kelly released her debut album, Soul of a Woman, in 1998 on Island Records, which contained the hit single “Friend of Mine”. The “Friend of Mine” LP version and the remix both charted as No. 1 hits on the U.S. R&B chart and made history by doing so with no music video to support the song. You can now see Kelly as an actress on BET’s, American Soul, which tells the inside story of Don Cornelius’s “Soul Train,” the legendary dance show that defined a generation.
The theme for the Women of IMPACT Honorary Brunch in Trenton is ‘Full Circle’! This is a full circle moment for me because I am honoring all of the women who have made an IMPACT in my life, for IMPACT Magazine, their respective industries, and in their communities! Kelly Price was the FIRST celebrity to grace the cover of IMPACT Magazine in 2011! We sat on the phone for over an hour discussing the business, us getting to know each other, and how she is an advocate of breast cancer awareness in which she donated $250k toward the cause and continues to raise awareness through speaking engagements to this day!
